MY truck, 1996 Ford F250, 7.3 starts fine when it's cold. Runs great and ran fine all of last year. Started to use it again this summer, and will start fine, but once it's been warmed up, if you shut it off, then immediately try to restart it, it won't start. Motor turns over fine, but won't start. Husband replaced low pressure fuel pump, (closest to the motor). Did go out yesterday and get a new tank of diesel, thinking that it was old diesel. Motor only has 130k. Any thoughts? Maybe it's one of the sensors?

Mary, quite often on the 7.3 PSD's this condition is caused by a failure of the IPR (Injection Pressure Regulator) o-rings. The cheapest, maybe not the easiest unless hubby is a pretty mechanic, is to buy the o-ring kit from Ford. Less than $30. Couple hours work. The easier fix is to purchase a new IPR from Ford, but that's over $200. Again, couple hours work. The link in the above reply is the best place for finding out the How, the Where and the How much$

Anther thing to check is the cam sensor, very typical with them going out on the 7.3's. I keep quite a few in my glove box, and they are very easy to change yourself.........

We have an answer! You folks are super,,,Yes, it was the IPR o-rings,,,he wasn't too excited to start tearing things apart, and definitely did not want to take it to a garage--but didn't take him long to "come waltzing into the kitchen" to show me the broken o-ring. Will pick up parts tomorrow. Had to make him a nice supper for Father's Day!! So Thanks for the quick replies and for the link to the diesel forum. Greatly Appreciated and Hope that all you Fathers had a Great Day!
