I was just looking around . do you have the virus HV-1 near you or around your area cornel extention just posted an out break in duch county new york. I here there was one in CT. any comment ????

I don't know about harpy virus, but herpes virus unless you are breeding I wouldn't worry to much about it. I vaccinate for it , but vaccines are not 100% and may only reduce severity of the disease. the neurological strain is the worst, for most horses. Uconn had some horses that had signs and cancelled some equine events

the virus is from over sea and it is the neurological strain. there have been seval barn that have turned up with the virus and have been quintened. I was just wondering how far has this gotten?

There is 9 different herpes viruses that affect equids, of the 9 only 5 affect domestic horses, of these 5 only 3 can cause illness, Equine Herpes Virus 1 (EHV-1), Equine Herpes Virus 3 (EHV-3), and Equine Herpes Virus 4 (EHV-4). Only EHV-1 causes the most losses, and it has been world wide for a long, long, time. Besides causing respiratory illnesses, and abortions, it also causes neurological illnesses. Thank you for the link, I was just look to see if anybody els has see the viuse in there area or not. Where I am the virus is around the area thank god it is not right next to my horse ,It is in Floradia and Conncte and up state NY
