Someone told me that they had camped and ridden at a place called Hocking Hills, in Ohio.  I found it on the website, but couldn't find out anything about horse trail riding.  Has anyone camped there and if so can tell me what you thought.  We are in Tennesse and were thinking about going there sometime this year.

We have been there many times. Being local, we usually stay at the state horse camp which is primitive, pit toilets and running water only. We have stayed at Three Reasons, a private campground in the past but they are no longer open. Palmarosa is another private horsecamp there, but I have never stayed there. The riding is very scenic, lots of large timber, cliffs, rock formations, overhanging cliffs with waterfalls etc. I have a pretty good map that shows the trails, if you are interested I could make a photo copy and send you..let me know. The state forest is not a huge area, but you should be able to spend 3-4 days riding and enjoy it. Zaleski state forest is close and has some very scenic riding also. The trails are all in heavy forest, with some steep climbs, some are rocky etc... Im sure you will enjoy it.

Sounds great.  Primitive is fine with us.  Would love to get the map.  Thank you.

Issie - you will love Hocking Hills. The trails are good and challenging - but still fair. The bluffs and rock formations are beautiful and quite unique. If you can hook up with someone who knows the trails you can see way more in a shorter time.

Enjoy!
