I have a 2004 Range Rover, borrowing a friend's trailer to haul my horse.  I have an electrical plug IN that has six flat pieces in a circle and a two pieces in the middle that make a circle (but not really- they don't connect).  I looked online and couldn't find any mention or a picture of a plug like mine.

Where would I go to get some sort of adapter?

Go to the home page, scroll all the way down to the bottom, click on "trailer wiring" go down to 7-way trailer connector. If this looks like the one that you have, it is a standard RV connector. Any auto part store should have the trailer end. You didn't  mention what type of connector that the trailer has. There is a possibility that the auto part store would have an adapter, or try a RV trailer place, or a place that sells cargo trailers. Some trailer manufactures wire differently, so you would have to make your own adapter.

There is an adaptor that goes from a 7pin to a 6 pin.  e-trailer.com carries them.

A place calle truckers supply (they sell pick up truck accessories) made and adaptor to go from my trucks 7pin to my horse trailers 6pin.

I got my adaptor at my truck dealership.  It helps if you print out photos of what type hookup the trailer has.
