My husband and I bought a 2 horse trailer last year. We want to add rubber mats to the side of the trailer. We bought 3/16 th rubber for the side. We are thinking of using 1/2 in or smaller dry wall screws with washers. We were wondering if this is the best way or if we should try something different? Thanks in advance.

Look for the "TEK" screws in this website.

Do not use common drywall screws. They are weak and brittle.

I used 3M adhesive in a spray can. Hi-Strength, green can. it was recommended by the local trailer repair shop. This stuff was awesome, and I never had to use a single screw on my wall mats. Tricky to brace in place as it dried. Wedged 2x4's up onto mats.

I added side rubber mats by using Liquid Nails and 2x4's. Do both sides at the same time with 2x4's uprights with a cross 2x4 wedged in-between. Then use black silicone sealer around the edges to prevent water entrance.
