Does the dish set up work ok on horse trailers? How do you fasten it on? Is there anything that I should know or be aware of? We have dish service and I have an extra dish. I also have a tripod to wich it can be attached and be free standing.
Is it as simple as putting it out facing south, pointed up to the right degree?
Just wondering if I'm missing something that makes it difficult.

They have meters to set them with but I always have better luck if I can see the setup screen on a tv then watch for the red to turn to green and ala TV. Having said that if you take the time to set the angle of the dish on a known level surface, then all you have to do is level your tri-pod and find the rotation setting, and it's more of a southwest direction, a simple compass and your in bussiness.

We had an extra dish so my husband cut two small sections of a 4x4 treated post about 18" long I think and attached the dish to them. Found the signal and permanantly attached a small compass to one of the legs. I think it is pointed north? We have about 20ft of cable I think so that we can move it around at our camp site. When we get set up he just sets it out, hopefully we don't have trees blocking us and just have to tweek it a little to get us going. Works everytime.

Thanks for the information. I was hoping it would be simple. The compass is a good idea, too. I thought you'd have to change it's angle more often, so that's good.
Paul, I don't think I'd buy one like that, though it is very nice. It's great to know that the portable ones do exist. I think some follow the signal so that people in motor homes can watch tv while traveling - cool, but not necessary for the horse trailer.
