Hi,
I need some help. I have been looking for a living quarters horse trailer for a few months and am suffering from information overload! I am currently looking at an Eby, Silver Star and Sundowner (w/dealer rebuild floor frame). All are 2004 and similarly equipped. I think I like the Eby best, but it would cost around $2000 to add the ramp my horse needs (he hates step-ups). I am interested in finding the best quality trailer I can afford and also concerned about structural integrity in the case of an accident.

I would steer far, far away from the Sundowner. There have been major problems with the frames on Sundowners that were coated with the Suncoat system. Either of the other two trailers should be fine, with Eby being a top notch trailer.

I have a Silver Star that is serving us well... If I had to pick between the Silver Star and Sundowner... I would go with the Silver Star. If I had to pick between the Silver Star and the EBY.... No doubt, I would go for the EBY.

I have a 2000 ford 250 PSD and it pulls my LQ trailer- 3H GN with Mid tack and LQ...about 27ft on the box. Not the heaviest rig but the Ford has enough to stop and go.
