I have a Suburban Hot water heater and I recently have had it serviced. When I turn the switch on, it doesn't ignite right away and the fault light will be on when the ignitor attempt three times to light the burner.

I made sure the propane tank was full and I primed the lines by lighting the stove, so it appears to be the ignitor.

What step should I take next?

I am having the same problem!  My husband went outside and tapped on the side next to the heater (3 times!), and said "That's what you have to do!"  because it came on then!  LOL!  I said what happens when I am by myself?  He said it probably is the ignitor, and we need to get it fixed.  But not sure how?????

Does it ever light? I use a small flexible wire brush (gun barrel size) and scrub all contact points ocasionally. Then run the brush in the fire chamber and when I am done air gun out all the rust and soot.

I have had a spider web keep mine from lighting.  Can you smell gas at the heater.  I had to run a rope up through the burner to clean it out.  It does not take spiders long to make a web.

Yes it does light and the technician that serviced it said there were spider webs. I guess I will try to check out the burner to see what is living in there
