I have been told by a Mechanic that with the new Ultra low Sulfur that I should put a small amount of AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID in the fuel tank. I have an '06, 6.0 Ford that is currently running just fine. I wish to keep it that way. Pros, Cons. Help. Can't afford to break my truck.

No you don't need the extra lube, their new concoction makes up for the sulfer they took out. The only thing you will need to watch is that sometimes it can tend to cause failure of the 'O' ring gaskets on the water seperator. It's not too hard of a fix, and it's not something that will come out of the blue & leave you stranded on the side of the road.

VERY VERY OLD school.ATF has compounds in it to work with friction plates and in a NON combustion enviorment. It will scald, scour electronic injectors, fuel pumps injection pumps.ATF was used back in the dark ages in injection sysyems that were made with BIG orfices etc.and no other proper aditives. No additive is really needed in a late model diesel. But if you want to run additive, use one MADE to be poured and mixed with FUEL & combustion.ATF is made for going in a auto transmisson like the label says. Stop at  a big full service truck stop and ask the cleak which brand on their shelf is the big seller.

Thanks. It did sound old school, not something I needed to worry over.
