Is there one kind of trailer battery that is better for my weekender trailer than another? I've been told just to get two deep cell marine batteries from Wal-mart, but since I do a lot of primitive camping, I'll probably be running things off these batteries alot. What should I look for in these batteries? Any brand better than others? Any other advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I dont know if any one brand is actually 'better' than another.  I prefer Interstate, had good luck with them.  I dont know anybody that had something nice to say about the wal-mart brand.  Know any boat guys?

Your best bet would be to surf a RV site.I did that and settled on 2 Trojan 6v golf cart batteries wired in series. The RV get pretty amped up about batteries. For most of them it boils down to $/amp hour. Trojan has a 12v golf cart battery, they're expensive, but the $/amp hour is pretty good.

Try Optima Blue Top.  You can get them at most auto parts stores.  I run the Red Top in all my trucks, they stand up to heat real well.
