I've never quite understood brake controllers.  I tried to follow the instructions for leveling my new prodigy.  By the time I got the trailer to not lock up when I used the manual slide at 25 MPH, when I would apply to truck brakes to stop the digital readout on the brake controller was barely above "0".  Is that normal?  Is it just going to get higher when I have the extra 1500lb of horse & stuff in it.

Thx

Peggy

It will get higher with more weight.  You have your "boost" set to 6.1?

Think so - started with the ".c." that the instructions said to.

huh?  it will not get higher with more weight, it will go higher if you stop harder (step on the trucks brake pedal). the boost is set at b1, b2, b3, not "6.1".  the voltage should be set to 6.0 to start, i assume thats what you meant?  the . on the right side of the .c. indicates the boost is on.

if you have the voltage (blue knob adjusts from 0.0 through 13 sometimes 14) set to just before lock up with the manual knob at 25 mph you should be fine.  but technically you should set the voltage with the trailer loaded.  the boost setting can be adjusted to your likeing.  under general braking the voltage reading will be low, that is normal.  you do not want the full power to come on unless you are doing a full power stop.  i have a setting of 8.5 volts, normal stopping generates around 1.5 on my display.  i used boost 1 when towing with the trailblazer, i use no boost with the 2500hd.....same trailer.
