I am new here, and it is great! You guys have so much talent! Now for the dummy question. We just bought a Sundowner and in the dressing area the vent is not braced for an ac unit. When we get ready to add one does it need to be? This area is only a 4 ft dressing so it is very small. We live in Texas and our intense heat plays a huge roll in the summer. So we want to add air and just some bunks and weekend qtrs. The place where we purchased the trailer is great but they want over $1100 for the ac. Is this expensive, it is for me...LOL! I would really like to have a roof mount also.....now could we just brace it with 2x4's....Sorry for the ramble....

Some of you are very talented with the living qrters you have done...Great work..

Happy Trails

Cindy

Hello Cindydj ... Yes, you'll want the roof to be braced. Otherwise I think you'll have the ac flopping loose on thin sheet metal.

I installed the ac unit myself.  I took my Sundowner to the dealer to have the vent hole braced for the weight of the unit.  It was a nominal cost .. I think about $120.  I didn't have a welding machine to do aluminum.  A local job shop could do it for you.  Of your $1100 quoted price, DIY will save $4-500

Thanks for the info that is what I was looking for. That is exactly what I will do. I want this to be really nice and but not really expensive...

Are you happy with your SD? We were just looking not quite ready to buy yet but this was a used one that we really didn't want to pass up. It was sold new in March and the poor guy has lost his job so they were trying to help him out. It has the warranty and still smells new and has only been pulled a few times....I am really excited about it!

I'm pleased with my SD ...  You might want to make sure the SD warrenty is tranferred to your name by the dealer.  It's a hundred buck charge if you do it yourself.  Call the SD customer 1-800 service line to see if you're on the warrenty
