1) Jamco has just opened a factory in Tennessee. I've heard their quality is unbeatable, and they are actually worth their premium price. I know they are all aluminum, but they, C&C and 4 Star are the only ones of that type I'd consider.
Opinions on this brand would be appreciated.
2)I've always wanted a used trailer. HOWEVER--I started thinking about my hauling usage and now I'm wondering if new might be wiser.
I would be hauling a 350 mile roundtrip every other week for 6 months or so.
The other six months would be mostly longish distance trips of more than a 1000 miles RT maybe once a month or every two months.
Now that I think hard, that's a heck of a lot of hauling. Should that affect my decision to go with used versus new?

It depends on how used of a trailer you want to purchase. Buying a used trailer you have to take into account it will have wear on the tires, so you will be replacing those sooner than a new one, what kind of wear and tear is in the horse area(how is the floor? Needing to be fixed or replaced soon?).
I think you have already answered your question on buying new vs. used. Course a used trailer that is about 2-3 years old won't be affected by that much hauling than a trailer that is 10-15 years old.
Start looking at used ones and new ones and see what you can afford. I know Jamcos can be few and far between used so if you have your heart set on one, new might be what you have to buy.

With a Jamco and a 4-Star - expect some bias from me (-:
What sizes ?, how many horses ?, B/P or Goose ?
For what you say you'll be doing, I'd go for new, or 2 to 3 years old and keep a reserve $1K or so to go through it - nearly 1/2 that for a set of tires, though I'd expect to at least get through the first year with what come with the trailer - dealer issue if they need replacing before that.
e-mail me separately with specifics that the rest of the forum may be uninterested in.
