Hi, I couldn't find any posts related to my question. I hate feeling so dumb but I just don't know much about wiring etc.
I have a couple of red clearence lights and one amber marker light on my 2005 Sundowner LQ trailer. I was hoping they would just unplug and I could plug in a new one. Nope- they have a single wire attached to the light. One of the lights has about an inch of wire (not much to work with) I'm afraid to pull on it too hard in case I pull it out. They are completely enclosed. I guess my question is do I need to cut the light off from the base and replace it with a new one with a connector? The base looks good. Do I need to buy the whole light & base kit or just the LED bulb? Sorry if this is confusing. I was hoping this was something I could do myself ??
Thanks for any advice. Kim

All your lights have two connections. What you've missed is the "ground connection" Look closely, you'll see one wire or metal strap that attaches to the metal mounting stud. This in turn makes a connection to the metal body of the trailer, Most vehicles have a negative ground. So the body of the trailer/ vehicle is the negative connection.
The one wire you've found is the positive or "hot" wire.

I like to use a little dap of Analox an anti-oxide paste on all aluminum to wire connections to prevent troubles in the future.

I didn't answer your question.

Sundowner uses sealed marker lights. You should be able to purchase LED lights in the same package. Then you'll just do a plug & play replacement. Otherwise you will have to replace the whole base and light.
