I am confused. I have seen several people talk about running Michelin XPS ribs on their trailers. I want Michelins on my trailer in a bad way, but I talked with a customer care guy at the Michelin plant in Greenville SC, and he said that Michelin could not recommend the XPS for trailers because they are a light truck tire and have a different side wall construction vs. a ST tire which has a stiffer side wall. He said the difference in the side wall may mean a problem when hitting potholes etc. because the wall is not as stiff as a ST tire. I am scared of the Karriers that I have on my trailer now because they are made in China (I know a lot of tires now are!) and they are only 5 ply on the tread. So far they are OK, but I am hypervigilant about checking pressures and I keep them covered when I am not using them even if it is just for a week. Also, I am not sure if the XPS will fit. My Karriers are ST235/80R16 and are rated at 3000 lb each. Any advice?

I have had the XPS on my 3 horse Trails West for the past 2 years and have had no problems whatsoever. Always had problems blowing trailer tires. I am picking up my new trailer saturday and had a set of XPS sent to the factory for my new trailer. The tire exec at Discount recommended them for my trailer because thay dont pop when you travel over 65MPH

My Bloomer came with Michelin XTA's so double check your digits. Easy for them to be crossed up.
Mine are 20ply steer tires. Zero problems with 50k miles on them, however, they are about 50-60% done for. So this summer they will be swapped before we leave for nationals. My experience with tires over 2yrs old on 1800 mile one way trips is not to good. Especially when its 105 outside.
