I barrel race, and we are starting to head out of state more and I want something bigger than what I have. I want somehting with a slide out and prices from 50,000 to around 80,000 I looked at so many trailors already they all look nice but which has the nicest quality? I have an older exciss and the shower broke off! In 2 spots, now that isnt to good of quality. No ofense... Just want to get some opinions...

Well one thing you want identified is who is providing the warranty for the slide portion of your trailer...Based on previous threads...some living quarters are not warrantied by the trailer manufacturer, but the subcontractor that does the living area...so one would wonder if there might not be finger pointing between the manufacturer and the subcontractor if there were to be a problem in the slide area...

And whoever says they are responsible...GET IT IN WRITING......because all verbal promises are as good as the paper they were written on...

amen to that

We looked extensively at all trailers when we decided to get our first aluminum trailer with LQ. That was in 1999. We asked people that we had shown with with for years what they liked and didn't like and we compared everything.

We settled on Elite as we felt it was the best thing on the market. When we got our second one to move up in LQ size in 2002, we agin looked and compared and settle on Elite, again.

We just traded for an even larger trailer and we did so because of the LQ. It is a CM Norstar. I was reluctant to part with the Elite and the quality I knew. After having the CM for a month, I am more than pleased with it and the quality. It is every bit the quality trailer that Elite is and maybe even more.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Elite or another CM. We use our trailer a lot. We pull about 15,000 miles to shows per year and put about 500 hours per year on the generator. If we don't have a quality trailer, it will show up in hurry.

Barrelracer - you've gotten some good suggestions here.  My suggestion is to get a notebook and start taking notes.

When you are at events, look around at different trailers. Ask the owners what they like and don't like about their trailers.  Most especially, ask what dealer they bought from.

So far as the slide-outs. Some have great mechanisms while others can't seem to get it right. Do lots of research on those (ask around) because if there's anything that's causing grumbles, it's those. They don't open correctly, they don't close all the way, they leak, etc.  Just like when awnings first came on the market. Some are good, some are better and then there's some that are superb.

THe trailer will have a warranty by the manufacturer; the axles may be warrenteed by Dexter; the tires will be warranteed by that manufacturer. The interior will be done by yet another company, the awning by another, and the slide-out could be warranteed by yet another company.

(Gadzooks.. can you imagine if horses came that way?)

So.. you are asking in the right place. Be prepared for lots of opinions and answers ...  and be sure to right them in your notebook. : )

Good luck.

You've got your choice of the ALUMASPORT SE (Aluminum over steel) or the STRATUS (All Aluminum) and after that choice is made you keep making choices about the add-ons until your checkbook is empty...

Take a look at Jamco's too, good quality and the LQ can be done by at least 2 different companies that I know of.
