Your re-sale value will be better with a slant load. I have a two horse straight that is extra tall and wide and in great condition and I am having a real hard time selling it.

The resale value on ANYTHING you're trying to sell is always lower than what you're trying to buy (-:
Also, it depends a lot on where you are, what disciplines folk in your area follow, what size horses they have, etc.

I agree with Reg on this. It also deepens, western/english what are you are riding, and the level you are riding. I recently read a report on a dressage show in Florida. 30 horses, 17 over 17 hands, 3 over eighteen hands. If you want to sell the extra tall/extra wide you might see if you can sell to the dressage/jumper crowd. Although right now the breeders of warmbloods are aiming at a 16'2" hand horse. Working the big horse just does not work for the 35+ ladies that is their biggest market right now.

I'm in the same boat. Have a 2H Straighload, extra tall and extra wide and am going to have to basically give it away. I need to get a 3H which is extra tall and extra wide for my warmbloods. It is very discouraging with these nice 2H straightloads that fit any horse.
Good Luck, I understand your frustration.
I also wonder if it would be easier to sell off a trailer lot because folks think they can only get trailer financing from a dealer....

An interesting thought...
You could try what house owners often do, add a line to your ad something like, "possible owner financing".
That might get the attention of the cashless and it wouldn't obligate you to let them have it for "half now, half never" if you checked them out and found their credit worthiness to be bad.
Details, is this a 2H goosie or bumper pull ?
I'll come and get it if you really have to GIVE it away (-:
{Like, I *_need_* another trailer for the fleet}
