I would recommend Rocky Hollow.  Leatherwood has more climbs in 25 miles than the OD has in 100.!

Thanks Walkin. I'll have a look at it. Anyone else have an opinion on these?

Well, we just got back from our 2 week vacation. What a blast! We spent the first 10 days at Iron Mountain. We met and rode with some of the nicest people I have yet to meet. The weather was reasonable and we rode every day that we had planned. The camp is great with the nicest stalls I have seen anywhere so far. It's definitely a place I will return to. There are many trails I still would like to ride.

The balance of our trip was at Leatherwood in NC. We did have some drizzly rain but we were able to ride the 3 days we had planned. The place was very nice and the trails were very pretty. I wish I had been able to ride more of them. I guess I'll just have to go back sometime! The staff is great there and the accomodations were quite reasonable. If all goes well, they have plans to add more hook-ups in 30 amp service and change their existing hook-ups to 30 amp as they have 20 at the present time. Didn't seem to be an issue for us though.

All in all a great trip with no issues during travel or anything else for that matter. Can't beat that!

We leave for James River SP in the morning. I'll report from the field via laptop if I have signal. Of course, rain is forecast Tues. and Wed., and I have rescheduled this trip 3x.

I wish you a safe trip and a great ride! Take a good slicker....if it's just rain, no big deal.

Great time at James River State Park. About 6 hrs of riding here on very good footing with a good variety from level riverside trails to some decent hill climbs. Had the place to ourselves through the week. Primitive camping, 5 level sites, a 4 stall barn with open corral on each end and plenty of poles across from campsites for highlining. A very clean vault toilet nearby and the park has a nice shower house. They also have a group horse area with 7 stall barn and allow portable fence / corral ( all primitive, generators allowed during daylight hours). The dogs had a good time as well, beautiful overlook of Tye river valley with a hitching area.
