I use the rope type hay hags...the nylon ones are a pain and my horses have a tendency to chew on the nylon stings and destroy them,..I got my through a catalog, but can;t remember which one..
I also like the fact that I can wash the cotton ones when they get really nasty...throw them in a bucket w/ .a little soap and a little bleach agitate or scub, and hang over the fence to dry...they look almost new again.

I'm confused - hay bag:http://equestrian.doversaddlery.com/saddlery/Hay%20Bagor hay bag (that I would call a hay net):http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=204617794&listingid=50556975Not sure which you're talking about, and I'm interested in the answer(s)!

Thanks! Sorry I didn't realize that I was on page 2 of this particular thread. Lots of great information!I tried one of the small mesh bags for my piggy gelding. I must've gotten an off-quality one - it's very long and skinny (like a similar shape to my leg, that long!). It's very hard to get any hay in it, I have to sort of roll up part of a flake and stuff it down in there. I had wanted something that I could put a couple of flakes in, but he could only eat it very slowly. Did I get a bad one or are they all like this?

To fill the small mesh hay nets, I put the empty net in a muck bucket and open the top of the net over the top rim of the muck bucket, so it looks like a basket. Then you can stuff as much hay in the net as could fit in a muck tub. I usually put 3 flakes in mine, quickly and easily. If I really stuff it I can get more.
