So, I should have asked before but I just bought 5 (4 plus spare) 10 ply trailer tires from Les Schwab that are a Carlile brand. I was assured that they were great tires. Any comments? Don't worry about the timing - if the tires are junk I will make the seller take them back.

That is not a bad brand tire..... Depending on the trailer, I might have checked th eprice on a 14ply tire.  Just bought 4 new 14ply for my flatbed hay trailer and they was only around 40 or 50 buck more total.  Made a BIG difference when loaded.  Does not bounce as much going down the hwy.  That is what I run on all of our larger trailers.   10ply on a smaller trailer (under 8000lb total)would be just fine.  Hope this helps.

You make Mr. Les Schwab take those CARLISLE tires back. Those may look good now but will be a pain in the near future. Tread coming off, blow outs, dry rotting and cracking. What ever could go wrong with a tire can and will go wrong, (soon) with those Carlisle's. I see that Keifer is putting them (carlisle's) on their new trailers, that would be enough to keep me from buying a new Keifer trailer. If they (Keifer) use that sorry of a tire on their new trailers, then I would guess the rest of the trailer can't be much better. Think about it, a trailer ain't no better than the tires it has on it. AND, if you don't believe me, then go to http://www.epinions.com/ and look up Carlisle Radial ST utility tire and read the reviews.....HELLO!!!

Thank you for the quick information!  Les Schwab will take the tires back.

What brand of tires do I want to buy?  Trailer is a 2 horse EquiSpirit gooseneck, extra wide and extra tall in the horse area, with a 3-4 foot dressing room.

My riding partner was going through tires like crazy on her Logan 2H slant (bumper pull)... we went to a ride last weekend, and she had a flat.   I told her the trailer looked a little off when I watched the tracking (driving behind her with my rig), like it was out of alignment ofr something.  When we got home she took it to the local shop, and they told her the axle was off center by 2 inches!  It was welded on that way at Logan.  She has had the trailer since it was new and nobody at Les Schwab noticed the axles off center when she took it in again and again for tires.  The axle was installed at the manufacturer incorrectly.  Yikes.  Anyway, Logan is paying for all repairs and for all the tires she has had to put on.    SO, you might want to have your trailer shop check the alignment and for correct placement of the axles if you're going through alot of tires.

No, not going through a lot of tires. Just replaced the original, six year old ones.

Scary story about your friend though! Good for Logan for stepping up to the plate and making things right.
