Horses vs People.....Horses and People what a mix.....an old timer once told me you could put your horse in a padded stall to keep them out of trouble ......but they would probably eat the padding and collic! Or you could give someone a dually and a Brenderup and they would find a way to roll it or some nut will help you! I hear you chadsalt, and agree.....it boils down to the nut behind the wheel and knowledge of themselves and his rigs limitations. The tow rating IMO is for the same people that they had to put a warning on gun barrels that they are dangerous....!

I have no problem with the idea of "pushing the envelope", I've done it, I could have got ticketted for it, I doubt that I could have got hurt for it.
There ARE safety factors on all things, a few percent over once in a while is unlikely to casue the end of civilization as we know it.
I think I've always backed off in some other dimension, typically reduced speed and increased spacing by a LOT when overloaded. The problems occur when you're out there with two, three or more factors way over spec and the sh*t fairy comes to pay you a visit. I think the corner of the envelope can be OK, maybe a little outside can work for a while, but if you get blasse about it and do it "all the time" then eventually your luck WILL run out. Getting cut off, distracted, emergency braking for someone else that has a problem, that one last thing that makes the sum total spell disaster.

FYI drove by the groubds at Sisters and it appears to be fenced,don't know if the horses ran thru it or jumped it but looked like there was a fence there.It is an open strech of road and apretty good speed limit.
