A thought about your mattress problem...what about a good quality sofa bed mattress? They are usually thinner then a regular mattress and come in double or queen size!Another layer of simple "egg crate" foam over top of this would help with the comfort level.Just a thought....

I was also looking for a thinner mattress instead of foam as a friend had told me how difficult it is to make up the foam bed. All the mattresses seemed to be the huge "pillow top", etc. I found one "old fashioned" queen mattress and it was on clearance for $50!!! It sleeps great. So, I say just keep looking everywhere that sells them and you will run across just what you want. BTW, it's still hard to make up a bed in the gooseneck.

Thanks for your recommendations. I think I'm going to keep looking for a full size thinner mattress. You're right, they should be cheaper because it seems eveyone has gone to the extra thick pillow top mattresses. I really didn't want a foam mattress.
