I am looking at a used 2006 Newkirk trailer which is aluminum skin over a steel frame. Does anyone know much about this brand as I can not find out anything. Is there a problem when you put aluminum on steel?
Thanks,
Cecil

sorry, we don't recognize this brand but I can give some info on aluminum over steel. Many companies build trailers with this method and there is no problem as long as a barrier is between the dissimilar metals. Without this barrier you'll experience the dreaded galvanic corrosion!!!! This is a break down of the over- lapping aluminum. Worse than rust it eats right through..FAST! The only repair at that point is replacement of the aluminum sheet or covering the offending area....but always remembering to add a barrier. So to sum up, check with the manufacturer if they're using a barrier, believe it or not there are some companies out there not paying attention to this critical point.

Good luck with your trailer search. If we can help more please feel welcome to call toll free  877-245-6753.
