          Hey people ,

My mare Gracie we think is in season, her tail seems like it's always raised and the gelding with her is suddenly starting to bite her.  I have three questions, 1: What are the definite signs of a mare in season? 2:How long do they stay in season? 3:How often do they get in season?  I would really appreciate all three of these answered since the place that we have our horses(a relative of mine)they have two stallions up there right beside our horses!

I would be very concerned if my mare was in heat and there were 2 stallions "right beside" them.  Stallions have been know to go right through fences to get at a mare, especially a stallion with "breeding experience".
