I picked up an old 2h bumper pull trailer to fix up and have decided to add small dressing room. I'm going to replace the entire frame but not sure what size steel to use. Will be adding about 3 1/2 feet to the frame. I don't want to use rectangle tubing do to rust issues. The question is, C channel or angle iron and what size? Any imput you would offer would be great. Thanks

This may help. The trailer is 5 foot wide and has twin 3500lb axels.

A boxed frame (tube) is by far the strongest of the shapes you've mentioned. An angle is the weakest. Drain holes and interior tubing pretreating will lessen the rust issues.

There are many steel framed trailers being constructed today. Copying one of the better ones, would be any easy way to make sure your construction is correct. Otherwise it would take the work of a structural engineer to provide the answers you seek.
