First post didn't work so here we go again. I have a friend who is buying a new to him trailer. He pulled the trailer to the local Cat Scale nad here is what he came back to me with. Steer Axle 3800# Drive Axle 5940# Trailer Axle 6720#. His current truck is a 2004 2500HD Chevy 4x4 crew cab 6.0 gas automatic. I think it is too much trailer for the truck. Trailer is a Sundowner LQ 12 ft SW 3H 26 ft box lenght. I need input so I can steer him in the right direction.

First, At least your friend thought enough to weigh the rig.... Many people buy a trailer and then regret it.   Have your friend go to this website.

http://www.vehix.com/car-reviews/2004/chevrolet/silverado-2500hd/vehicle-specifications

Then... Was the trailer loaded when weighed?  If Not, add to the scale numbers as appropriate.  Figure horses and tack at 1200 pounds apiece,  Water at 8 pounds per gallon, passengers, luggage, food, beer, and other stuff.  (I put 1020 pounds of hay in the first stall once.  Couldn't pass a good deal on premium hay.)  Stuff adds up quick.

The rear axle is at the max limits.  The gross vehicle weight is over.   Too much trailer for the truck.

Be a good friend and talk some sense into him.,

Thanks for the info hosspuller. Now I can show him ers which I have aready tried to explain to him that he need a 3500 or bigger truck. He is one those people who you have to show it to him on paper and he will spend the money to fix the problem. This will help.
