Our truck is a 99 F350 and it calls for 215/75/R16 is it okay to use 235/85/R16 they are on wheels off of a 2001, the correct size for the 2001 is 265/75/R16 , is it the wheels that keeps them apart, I read that the walls must not touch on the rear

I had the same questions on my chevy dually. If they touch you are gonna have trouble. Make sure you factor in a fully loaded trailer, max psi in tires, bumps in the road, etc. Remember that tires "flex" and may not touch at rest. I needed spacers to increase tire size, so I opted to stay with original spec tires. If you are changing wheels, the best thing may be to put them on the truck and test drive it with your loaded trailer.
