I have some metal seams that need caulking on the sides and sealing in the roof. These are sheet metal seams. I'd need paintable for sure.
What products should I look for to do the job for a trailer?

In particular, I was wondering about the following:
Butyl caulking for the side seams. If Polyurethane caulks/sealants are as good, they ARE cheaper.
Butyl or rubber sealants for the roof followed by an elastomeric coating. Or an elastomeric caulk for the roof followed by the roof coating.
Would one use some sort of tape over the seams in the roof?
