Has anyone had a problem with Dixie Horse and Mule trailer sales. I bought a trailer in December and had a issue with the divider latches. They told me it was caused by livestock and so on. They basically told me that I was on my own.

I have never had personal dealing with them but I know from this forum they bend over backwards to help their customers, some that aren't their customers even.

Just a word of advice-when the first post ever is a complaint, the board can come down pretty hard on you. Brace yourself.

I have nothing but accolades to describe DHMC's assistance with my concerns. There are a multitude of threads posted by many people, who have nothing but praise for this dealership. DHMC is well known to not only to greatly assist their own customers, but be of benefit to others as well.

I am surprised to hear of any negative comment regarding their business. However, some people cannot be pleased by any means, so it will occasionally happen.

I won't speak to the actual situation you have with the latches because you didn't ask us too, but yes I can address DHMCO. I have known Don Smith (owner DHMCO)for several years. He has always been a stand-up person who has gone above and beyond doing whatever he told me he was going to do, and I have seen this in many cases in his dealings with customers too. We are friendly competitors and quite frankly, his organization is one that has my respect. I would offer to help, but if you cannot get along with Don, you probably won't have any better luck with me. Just my .02$

Only a liar can please all the people all the time.  I haven't found Don of DH&M to be a liar.

What is your issue with the latches?  Will you post a picture of the problem?  Perhaps, you might not be on your own.

I have had dealings with DHMCO and have delt with Don Smith for 7 years ,There is no dealer or person in the industry that is more trust worthy or honest .He has always bent over backwards even if he lost money on the deal . This is my opinion Randy

Have dealt with Dixie and very well satisfied. Sent friends there and they purchased one from them also. Both from Arkansas.

Hi Edwin Pfaff.  Thanks for completing your profile with your real identity.  We appreciate that since the first post you make on the board is a personal complaint.  The board members are touchy about people who use the board for their own personal vendetta's.

I'm the owner of the site and  for ten years I've never seen a complaint about Dixie Horse and Mule.

If there were complaints, the customers took them directly to Don, and we didn't hear about it on this board.  In fact, Don looks for complaints and will often go out of his way to solve them . . . even when they are complaints he didn't cause!

I'm not a "frequent poster" - but I am a very frequent reader. I have not have any personal dealings with DHMC, but have been extremely inpressed by their services offered here on HTW. Seems to be straight up and down.

No issues at all with him. He has done my right and I didn't even buy the trailer from him. There is always different strokes for different folks though. Send him a PM. That is what it is used for.

If I ever buy another trailer, DHMCO will be the first place I check. My trailer came from them, and they have been great in handling an issue I had with it.

I haven't heard anything bad either.  They always seem to take care of there customers.  Maybe you should re-approach them and try re-explaining it to them in a nice but more detailed way. Just maybe when you were explaining the issue to them you weren't as clear as you should be?  No disrespect intended.  As they say, if at 1st you don't suceed, try again...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote the OP ... Has anyone had a problem with Dixie Horse and Mule trailer sales. I bought a trailer in December and had a issue with the divider latches. They told me it was caused by livestock and so on. They basically told me that I was on my own.

Think you could consider the OP as a one time "hit and run" or you could call it a "drive by"....

EdP... Was it a new trailer, used trailer..? What make trailer? What kind of warranty did/do you have? You had a problem in December of 2008? Why bring it up for discussion in September 04 2009...? I believe that if there was a divider latch problem, Don would have taken care of it. He has sent his service folks out to make warranty repairs on folk's trailers that he didn't even sell in the first place... Spent his time and money to make repairs on a trailer that another dealer had reaped the benefits from. That's dedicated service!!! Wish he lived closer to me.

Gary

A friend of mine with an older Exiss was at a show in Conyers, GA when we realized she had a trailer tail light out.  I knew there was a Dixie location right around the corner and we ran over there.  We explained the situation (and mentioned she did not buy the trailer there) and within minutes they produced a replacement light at no charge (they just asked that we consider them the next time we need a trailer) and even offered to install it.  Kuddos to that kind of service.

I have had issues with DH&MCO. Don may be a nice guy, but at least one of his sales people was NOT AT ALL HELPFUL!!!!!! She forgot my name, was not familiar with the trailer I was looking at and would not work with me at all. I WILL NOT recommend them to any of my friends. Sorry! Bad experience and NOT happy with them!!!!!

So ... DH&M Co wouldn't take your offer? That's how the free market works.  You are competing with other buyers, just as DH&M is competing with other sellers.   Must have been a good business decision for them.   They need to have profits to give free help or quick service to nice people as we've heard.

You wouldn't just happen to favor HR 3200 too? (The Medicrap bill)
