What is the correct height for figuring drop for a hitch? I Know the trailer should be level when measured, but I have a load compensating Escalade.  My figures say it shoul have an 8" drop hitch,  but my 4 x 4 gmc dully only needs a 6" drop.   The receiver on the caddy is almost a full 2" higher then the truck, whic did surprise me. But an 8" drop hitch still seems like a lot.

I would try the 6" drop from the truck that you already have before buying an 8" that may be too low. Then you'll know for sure.
