I am considering purchasing a 1999 3-horse Logan Coach Competitor horse trailer. However, I have a few concerns as to whether or not my truck can handle pulling this trailer. I own a 2002 Ford F-150 Supercrew (5.4 L V8). I am estimating the trailer to weigh unloaded, approximately a little over 4000. I should never haul more than 2 horses in it at a time. Can my 1/2 ton truck handle this kind of load w/out major complications? Or a better question would be, is it wise to pull this trailer with this truck?

You should be ok with this, you may have to consider a load equilizer hitch if it sways or drops your truck down too much. You also if you don't have it allready need electric brake controller.Check with Ford to seee what your max loaded trailer weight is.
I think it is 8000 for 4x2 and 7600 for 4x4 also depends on your rear end gears.
