I have been researching to buy a new aluminum 2 horse bumper pull with a ramp. I am pulling with an older large suv max of 7k. I am only looking at trailers less than 3k total empty weight One old 400 lb pony and one 900 lb horse. I am interested in opinions of experienced haulers concering safety from sway, etc and horse comfort options. Torsion vs spring leaf axles for safety and comfort? Could a difference in length such as 13+ ft (slant) to 16+ ft (straight) make any difference if big truck drives past? Slant vs straight. Favorite anti-sway and /or weight distribution hitch devices. Thank you in advance.

The longer straight loads are more apt to need a weight distribution hitch. I don't know that either is inherently safer than the other. And a WDH does seem to have an anti-sway effect on any trailer it is used on. THere are also true anti-sway bars as well, but not usually needed on a horse trailer.
