Longrider, Congrats to your lady!!

I was following the progress of the Tevis, and my fav was pulled for time at the half way point. As you know this is the toughest test of both men and women and their wonderful horses. I know what you mean about a 60 yr old. I will be 60 the 3rd of Oct, and will be at the Calif central coast to train and ride the trails there. I currently ride in my home valley of the High Desert of So. Calif, and have done a couple of 25's and one 50 miler. I am going to the website for the race and see the finals now. Again, give the lady a big hand, and probably some much needed sleep. And give that wonderful horse a big hug, a bunch of apples and carrots, and maybe even a couple of peppermint drops.  LOL  LOL

100 miles in one day?  She's my new hero!!  I told my husband I wanted to do endurance riding and he asked if I had thought about how sore I would be the next morning.

  Yeah..

You can imagine how sore you get. Thats why they sell a stuff called "Monkey Butt"!  LOL.. It is for the heat rash, and chafing you get while riding that last 25 miles or so. And can you say out like a light when beddy bye time comes. My hoorahs go out to the folks who complete the Tevis, they are the best of the best.

Wife completed #47 riding a 16 hand purebred Arabian. I'm still in the clouds for both of them.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR WIFE AND HER HORSE!!!!! I will be volunteering at the National Championships in October at Ft. Valley, VA., problably doing P&R. I have the utmost respect for all the efforts that go into the training for the 100 milers! "To finish is to win!"

Well as Willy would say "wiskey for my men" (women too if they wan't)" beer for my horses" cause I'm gonna need it to go to sleep.Someone call a tow truck to get Me up in the mornin !

Carol & Brenda-Sorry for delay- Thanks to all the volunteers and crews that work behind the scenes to ensure a successful ride. It can't be stated enough that it is as much your efforts as it is the horse and rider's that allows them to complete. A sincere thank you to all, especially my wife's crew and all the volunteers at the Tevis!

Terri-wife's time was 23hrs 8min including 2 mandatory 1 hour vet holds which allows riders a short rest while the crew takes care of the horse. No time for napping, picnics, etc as the clock is running. 24 hours to complete after start of ride. Less than 50% completion rate.

Of course you would feel your butt!! It would be the next day, and the one after that, you would not be able to move.  Then you find every muscle and spot you didn't know could hurt. 

 Yeah Arabs forever!!

Here in the desert it is the one that gets the most miles I am sure.

( I am not prejudiced, just cause I own one and a half arab too.)

Was up by Bend Oregon over the weekend, they had an article about the race They mentioneed the winners time but not her name.
