Where is everyone going Labor Day Weekend?  We are headed to Brown County in Indiana, and for once, it is not supposed to be hot out!!  Upper 70's, with a chance of scattered showers, but I will take that!

We're staying home. I don't like to go on holidays, too crowded but mainly don't like to travel. Will ride here, might have to sleep in the trailer and pretend.LOL. With the weather cooled off I got the fever can't wait to go. You all have a safe trip.

We're headed for Cherokee Trailride, AL first thing Fri morning.  This will be the farthest we've ever travelled from home.  Weather is supposed to be good - upper 80s.     We're going to Willow Creek in Oct.

RIDE ON!

shari.....ditto for us.  We don't care for crowded campgrounds and try to avoid holidays except for New Year's.  We always go then so we ride on New Year's Day.  Supposedly whatever you are doing on the first day of the year is what you will doing the rest of the year.   So, we make sure!

still too hot down here to camp.  We've tried it in the past, but between the bugs, humidity, and waterlogged trails, just not worth all the effort.  We do have a 10 day trip planned the end of October.....

YAY!!  Leaving out tomorrow after work to Southern Indiana outside Henryville.  I think, Pekin campground.  Last time we were there it rained buckets.  Should be nicer this weekend, maybe some rain but should be better than sitting at home.  Everyone have fun and be safe!

Where is that campground at?  We camp at Henryville at least once a year, in the fall or early November. Is this a horsemans camp you are talking about?  I would be interested in knowing where it is...may want to try it out!

Were going to Loud Thunder Forest Preserve in Illinois City. It's not as crowded as most, but still good riding and camping. The weather here is good, just heard that the rain was pushed off until late Sunday now. I like to hit the trails after Labor day too, not as many crowds. Think were going to Siloam Springs next week.

What a great weekend, perfect riding weather!! Pekin was fun, good riding.  Can ride into Clark.  My friends are members, it's a saddle club but there was only one other trailer there all weekend.  They said it is only busy during rides or fun shows the club puts on.  Hope everyone had fun.

We did go to Brown County, had a good weekend, except for some bees on the trails. I was thrown off due to my horse getting into them. There was also a terrible accident there this weekend. A 4 year old boy was killed after riding on a horse with his grandfather and the horse slipped on some rocks crossing the creek and then threw both of them. He was wearing a helment at the time, and I have not heard the full details of his exact cause of death. Such a tragic thing to happen.  Kind of put a damper on the rest of the weekend.

How awful about the accident.  We camped in Shawnee National Forest and heard a rider got lost from his party and killed.  Haven't heard the details yet.  We got into a lot of bees as well--several times!  Was able to get off horse without falling but ended up getting kicked, but got back on and finished the ride that, of course, lasted three hours longer than it was supposed too.

I know here where I am in Calif. the wasp and meat bees are horrible!!!!! Even with fly sprays on the girls, I've found welts on their bellies, and we are constantly spraying around the house, hitting nest down, etc.....

I have been told by October they are pretty much a non-issue.  The people we were riding with called them ground bees.  We also got into one nest of yellow jackets.  We are going back down in October as well and plan to have a much better time.
