Other than price, any comments on these generators. I'm more concerned with reliability, lifespan, service and support. Kipor has gotten good press here lately. How about Honda, Yamaha, and Robin/Subaru all in the 3000 watt range. Spec wise they all come in about the same in noise, fuel consuption, etc. I'm leaning towards Yamaha seen some good prices with wheel kits, covers, rebates. Thanks in advance. Rich.

All three that you listed are excellent generators.
I only went with the Kipor because it was $800 cheaper.

I bought the Yamaha 2400is.  Mostly because it was only 70 lbs and I RARELY run my A/C unit. And 2400 watts was enough to run everything else in my trailer.

The 3000 watt Generators are heavier. I'd hate to be lifting them in and out of my pickup truck by myself.

We purchased the Yamaha 3000 isbe. Love it.  Very very quiet. It's actually more quiet than our friends that have their generators installed in their new lqtrs trailers.  We keep ours in the tack room under the bottom saddle holder.  Fits perfectly!  Has locking wheels too, with an electric start to boot.  We never take ours out of the trailer so moving it around isn't an issue.  I think it weighs like 105 lbs. ( Some what heavy if you gotta move it around by yourself .) We purchased a longer elec. cord  to connect the trailer to it and keep the tack door opened a little when we run it.  We paid $1895 delivered.  Got it the next day.

My vote would go to the Kipor. It gets wonderful fuel economy in my opinion, is just as quiet as the others mentioned, and is about $800.00 less expensive than the others. I have not had any problems with mine and it powers everything well.

Pitbull, afraid your wrong, my Kipor 3000TI has electric start with pull rope backup, and side by side with a Yamaha 2800 this weekend in 90* plus weather, both running LQ's with A/C my Kipor was possibly quieter than the Yamaha. And that is the Yamaha owners words, not mine. He bout crapped his pants when he found out I paid $900 less for mine WITH a wheel kit.

Just got back from a 3 day show. My Yamaha 3000iSEB ran a total of 60 hours, pulling a 13500 btu A/C, three 20" box fans and a few 100 watt lights in the evening. The A/C fan ran nonstop, compressor would run from about noon til midnight, so the A/C was running at full bore for about 12 hrs. a day. Burnt about 13.5 gallons of gas total. Show grounds charges $25.00 a day for 30 amp hook-up, burnt about that much in gasoline. Would have used the show grounds hook-up but kicked out their ground fault every time we plugged in. Glad we had the generator, there were others that wished they had one also. Had one to ask if they could pull their cord over and run their A/C also. I told him if he wanted, give me that nice 2yo fillie and he could have the generator. Everyone that had a new trailer could hook to public utilities, but us with the older trailers (mine's five years old) would kick the ground fault as soon as you plugged up. The Yamaha cost me $1800.00, best money I ever spent. When I bought the 3000iSEB, the Kipor's ya'll keep talking about must have been on that slow boat from China. Had I known about them when I bought the Yamaha, I may have given one a spot in the back of my trailer.

Hey Retento ... There hasn't been any change in wiring practices over the last 5 years to make your trailer any less than the new ones.  As in the last thread about GFI's ... I'll bet you have a wiring mistake in your trailer.    Look in your breaker box.  ground wires and white neutrals should not be connected together anywhere.

You've made 3 posts on here lately.  All three were on generator threads and all 3 were derogatory against Kipor.
Are you a Honda dealer?

hosspuller: It's hard to believe that there were only two trailers on the grounds that could hook to and use the power at this one barn. The old barns and their RV park worked fine. Where the problem was, was at this new barn that was finished in April of this year. Had I not unloaded and set up in front of my stalls I would have moved to another barn. The new barn had an asphalt apron about 50' out in front and being that I'm in a wheelchair and...........Well I'm all about some hard surface. I'm bound to believe that there was something wrong with their wiring. One of the trailers that was using power from the new barn said he tried three different plugs before he found one that would run his trailer, a new Kiefer, I don't know, I guess next time I'll request stalls at an old barn or carry my fuel can. I've used my 30 amp shore line at a gazillion different camp grounds and show grounds, first time we've ever had a problem, hard to believe that that I and so many othes ain't quite wired up right! Must be something wrong with the South Carolina electricity!

TIMEIT, I just ordered a Kipor3500ti today, should be delivered shortly.  Trailer has 30 amp power cord wiht the standard 3-prong, flat blade 30 amp plug.

Is there an adapter necessary to plug up to the Kipor?  I have not been able to find a picture of the outlets on the Kipor, but literature says it has a twist lock.

Artb42,

As Dawnya said it is a 30 amp twist lock, but be SURE you get the 30 amp, not the 20amp by accident, as it will NOY fit the 30 amp NEMA outlet. I had a 20amp laying in the garage and thought it was a 30amp when I made my adapter up, but I didn't double check and had to go get a new male plug because I didn't check it first. And you will like your KIPOR if you have the same luck we all seem to have had so far.
