Has anyone been or ridden there? We are going there next week for a 3 day ride. Thier website looks like it's a great place. The only thing I'm dreading is crossing over 3 mountains to get there. It's in McDowell,Va

Have not been there but please let us know how it goes. Checked out the website, looks clean, a little " touristy" maybe. I sent them an e-mail for some clarification on their pricing, at first glance seems a bit high just to haul in, camp, ride with your own. It does not look like they direct link to any public lands. We traveled over the 3 mountains going to Cass, WVa. and wouldn't do it again unless I had no other choice. Our return trip was up Rt. 220 through Petersburg and Moorefield to Corridor H to Wardensville. You then have the choice of continuing Rt. 55 to Rt. 81 or taking Rt 259 over to Rt 50 and Winchester and then to Rt. 81. I live in the Edinburg area and most mountain traveling doesn't bother me but this route over the mountains was very hard on the brakes by the time you get over the last one plus the curves were continuous. Let me know how the ride went.

Here is the info. communicated to me from the people at Bull Mountain Pasture Ranch.
- all rides are guided on 475 acres, described as " varying" terrain, 4 wheeler accessible to give you an idea ( not implying that you are sharing the trail with motorized equipment).
-Private sites have "access" to water, have an outhouse, a fire ring and wood, and 12 x 12 corrals.
-self stalling, indoors or out, is included in the $100 dollar, per person, per day fee. This charge is in addition to the private site fee.

From the website, it looks more like a resort dude ranch than a wrangler camp, since they have their own string of trail horses and all rides are guided.

The ride I'm going on is a first time 3 day ride. It cost me 110 per person which includes my camping spot and meals. Self guided trails. This is a first time thing for them...The only part of it I'm worried about is the mountain drive. Even the map looks a bit curvy.... I will let everyone know how it is.. Leaving this thursday be back sunday......

We're back and must say it was a great place. The drive over the mountains was a piece of cake.I love that tow master system. No brake problems at all...The place is a dude type ranch but the owner had this ride to see if the trail riders would be interested. We field camped and they provided porta potties and water. Our meals were included and it was all great the host of the ride and owner was very hands on with everyone there. We basically told them it was a great ranch and place to ride but the average horse person wanting to camp and ride can't afford dude ranch prices. So we'll see if we get any feed back.. Other wise the secnery and ride was great. I hope tp be invited back.

Thanks for the feedback and glad you had a good time. That price is pretty good since it included the chow. I don't have a problem with primitive camp and would be willing to shell out that cost. Did you have to backtrack the trails or is it " looped" ?. Artillery Ridge cost me $136 for three nights, full hookup but no chow. Rich.

We had no switch backs but big loop trails through the ranch and adjoining farms. Gettysburg is a joke. Been there once and that was enough...We're heading to Scottsville, VA next weekend. It's another 3day ride put on by Lonesome River Walkers. They provide all your meals from Friday night til Sunday lunch. A full Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday night. Great bunch of people. The ride isn't bad either....

The owner and pho-horse trainer at this ranch try to bed as many married woman as possible here. Stay away is my suggestion. Not worth the money just a bunch of pho-cowboys.
