Got a question, I have been thinking about getting a 2h gooseneck for the purpose of being able to stay the night in it a shows. All I have ever pulled are bumper pulls. I have also seen on here the bumper pulls with the dressing room made to where you sleep comfortably. I guess my question is, which would be better? I haul with a 04 dodge diesel. I don't want to much trailer for my truck.

Thanks

Throw in a porta potty and ice chest with a pad and sleeping bag and you are set.

You can do a search on this subject and find more info on past post.I prefer a gooseneck for pulling and sleeping in.

I have a BP.  To speak for the rest of the world so that you don't have to read a lot of posts - they will tell you a GN.  Now if you ask why a GN - then they will have to explain that themselves.

I had a BP for the last 5 years... Loved it.... now I have a GN for the last 4 days... LOVE IT MORE, i won't go back to a BP.

If you have the extra power (diesel = yes), and a GN hitch already installed ($300 alone or around $500 w/ install) you are set.

I like my Gooseneck better becasue it is less 'squirrely' on the road.  They are much safer in my opinion.   GN trailers sort of travel "with you", where a BP is following behind you... Make any sense?

A GN will be a smoother ride for your ponies = happier horse.

You can handle a lot more weight with a GN than BP safely.   A 2 horse is a standard BP size, and you don't see them much in GN, but when you do find them, people snag em up quick. For only 2 horses GN may be a bit on the big size.  3 horse is about standard... But the best 2 horse is a 3 horse!

hope this helped.

Hi. I've pulled a 3 horse gooseneck for the past 10 years, and would never want a bumper pull. Mine is an older model, small dressing room which we have fixed up, frig, electricity, insulation, etc. It's small, but great to camp in and pull. I have logged over 7,000 miles with my GN and have also pulled BP's, just feel a lot safer on the road with 2 or 3 horses GN. No swaying, easier to back into places. I drove a BP 750 miles with 4 horses, and even with sway bars, that thing moved around a lot. I guess it's just what you prefer. For camping, you can't beat a GN, and I am NOT talking about a huge $$$ LQ trailer either. You can get by with a 2 or 3 horse GN, 4 ft. dressing room just fine for shows, heck, I camp for more than 10 days in my small 3 horse and do just fine. Try to get one with a walk thru door, so you can put a portapotty in the back. Works great, even can have a cowboy shower and camp for a week or more. Good luck!

They all have there good points and bad points.....The bigger the trailer the more a G/N will shine.

I have both BP and GN. I will never buy another BP. The difference in the tow, stability, manuverability is great. My first GN was a 2h Straight Load with 4ft DR. I now have a 2H slant with LQ and love it!

I had a bumper pull and I was afraid some of the time because it felt like it was shifting on me. I was all I knew so that is how I thought trailers were. My husband had me pick up a GN stock trailer that he was going to use for cattle and I couldn't believe the difference. I felt so safe pulling it. I immediately sold my BP and got a GN. I will never go back.

usually i wouldnt mess with a 2h gn. personally i cant justify the cost, weight, size, gn hitch (if you dont alredy have one) etc. but if youre wanting to camp the gn part with a matress would be just the ticket........but even then i would probably go with a 3h just in case.
im not sure where all these people are buying these ill mannered 2h bp, i have yet to use one that doenst "pull" exactly the same as a gn...hell the axles on most 2h are farther back that most gn (that means no sway for those unsure of the relavance of that statement).

I am not saying that my BP was dangerous, I was the one who felt insecure about it.

Well I will be buying a 3H BP trailer new in the next week or so.  I would sort of rather have a GN, but my wife is 100% opposed to the idea.  Not sure why...  I also don't want to loose the tonneau cover on my truck.  I thought the bed height of my truck would be an issue, but turns out the bed height is the same on the new F350 4X4's, although that can be an issue with older GN, I will be buying new so less of a worry.

I have pulled BP trailers X-country a total of 3X now, never had one feel funny or loose or anything.  Granted my experience is limited and I will be getting a WD & sway control setup for the 3H (all three trailers I pulled B4 were 2H BP).  I would like to pull a GN trailer once b4 I make my purchase just to be more informed.  My wife doesn't want a GN, but for a 3H I keep hearing it is the way to go, and I would appreciate the extra room up front.

Cheers!

~K

Yeah, I'm going to see when we go to the trailer place tomorrow if I can drive a GN trailer.  Price isn't really an issue as the GN hitches are about the same price as the WD setup I would need (cheaper actually as the 8" drop I need for my truck is and extra $100!).  I can install myself, not an issue.
