No hurricane here in N. Texas, but is has rained off and on for three days and been in the 70's and 80's. We are loving it! It never does this in August so that makes it even nicer.

No rain so far here in middle Georgia. Sure hope we get some soon. When we do get a little around here it seems to be hit or miss. My folks place is pretty much like the sahara desert.

Lots of rain here in eastern New Mexico! Everything is green, green, green! I was begining to wonder if it was ever going to rain again. The lake was so low that irrigation was suspended for two years, meaning no hay. We are so grateful for the water!

We got about 5" from Tropical Storm Fay & some heavy wind gusts, but now it's seems to be in a holding pattern on the Coco Beach area and they've gotten over 20" in 24 hours... While we are used to heavy rains in Fla, that is too much for the ground to handle in that amount of time.
Many friends of mine around Okeechobee north on the east coast are flooded and had to move their horses to higher ground. The only good thing is Lake Okeechobee was down 3' and will rise at least a foot to 2 feet.
The Equine Clinic I took my horse to this past April for surgery was hit by a tornado and one of their barns demolished as well as a lot of other damage. The mare that was in one of the stalls was perfectly fine, though she's probably got a pretty wild story to tell....

The southern part of NM is also green green. I've been here 10 yrs and have never seen the weeds this tall. Just last night we had a wild storm pass through. Got about 2 inches of rain, some hail, watched the trampolene get airborn, crash into the tree and then kept rolling across the property, then over the fence where it crashed landed. It was kind of comical watching a 14 ft thing rolling away. At least it mowed down the weeds in its path. The bad part is trying to find all the springs to the darn thing. There is a thing call "too much of a good thing" we need the rain but not all at once.

We're supposed to see some of the fallout from Fay here in East Central MO. This has been the 6th wettest year on record, and I think we're heading for number 1 if things keep up at this rate.
My "dry lot" had just about dried up enough to walk on without muck boots as of yesterday, but after last night's drenching, it's back to calf-deep mud. Nothing we can do.
Trails at our favorite state park have never been muddy past mid-June, and they are still shoe-sucking sloppy.
We had 7 years of drought here, and it appears that is about over. Now my hay guy is moaning about not being able to get in the fields and get 4 days straight without rain. Bumper crop of good hay, though.

Rain.....what's that??!! Us folks in South Carolina have had a _ _ _ _ of-a- time the past two years with our drought. We have had some decent rain in the last two weeks, but still have got a long way to go. Guess what??? Not a thing we can do, guys! I still have faith though....just when you are ready to give up...it rains some!! (Like today) Sure hate to wish hurricanes and tropical storms on ya'll!! We'll get better when the Fall gets here...Can't wait!!!! You should try S.C. sometimes..When it's hot, we go to the mountains...gets too cold, just head to the lowcountry and our Springs and Fall seasons are wonderful......

I live on the southwest end of Lake Okeechobee..We are under water. My pond has taken over both pastures, the yard and the barn, and it is still raining. tomorrow we'll be heading towards Okeechobee..we're on a horse an cattle round up with air boats, as most all pastures are 2-4 feet under water, lots of livestock losing their lives to the water. is so sad, this was the most stubborn storm. with all this water we now have to be concerned with run off, fecal and other contaminent diseases...as they say, when it rains, it pourssssssss.

We live near the town of Foley, MO which is north of Winfield...the floods there still have all the cropland soaked. We feel for you guys down in FL. Sandbagging will do about as much good down there as it did up here.

Woohoo, glad someone else is getting the needed rain. We are finally drying out. We no longer have to do the slish-slosh shuffle! I can actually ride down the trails now and not sink into muck. Only a few muddy places instead of the entire trail. And it is suppose to be dry until the end of the week too. Gonna hit three different trails over the holiday weekend. Can hardly wait!!

I think I still have a number for a land who WAS growing coastal hay in SW NM. I don't know if she still is. After having 3 horses colic on a round bale of coastal (not from this lady) I've switched to hay cubes. Most of what you will find here is alfalfa.

Would love the number, Terri. I bought some last year from a couple in Mineral Wells, TX and my horses did just fine. I like the square bales tho so it is not just free choice. Just was hoping to find some closer than the 4hr trip (one way) to get some in Mineral Wells.
I remember reading about your colic situation. Hope all are recuperating nicely.
