I believe the rider was dumped after a branch broke off a tree and scared the horse. The rider is ok. The horse has all of the tack on.......poor horse.

Looked up the area and it is southwestern Michigan not far from the Indiana boarder. Hope they get him back. OK, also hope they let him move with his head higher up and not so behind the bit sometimes too. Sorry, couldn't resist. ;) Terrible coming from trail riding riff raff like me. Seriously hope they find him, I'd be worried sick if I couldn't find one of my horses after something like that. OK, mine always seem to hang around and look at me like I'm stupid on those rare occasions we've become separated.

Sorry Gone, but my map says Michigan is bordered by Indiana and Ohio. Now if you were my wife I'd say it was a blind moment.....

That's alright Gone, most of the people that live in that area probably work in Illinois anyway.

He was found in a corn field. He was sore, thin, thirsty, and has a shoulder wound. All of his tack was still on except his reins. The vet treated his wound and did blood work and he is fine. How cool is that???

Wow, glad they found him and he's okay..  We caught a runaway horse on the trails at Giant City a few weeks ago .  It was kinda scary because my five-year-old was with us and we weren't sure how his little mule would respond.  I jumped off my horse (threw the rains to my friend) and ran ahead a few steps and luckily the horse stopped.  It's unclear if the rider actually fell off or if the horse took off after he dismounted but the saddle was hanging under his belly when we caught him .  We're lucky he didn't blow past us or who knows what would have happened!!

Glad they found him relatively unharmed for his little adventure.
