We just took delivery of a new 2008 Cherokee, Super Chief, 6 horse, head to head trailer (from Ken Feagin in Asheville N.C.). 35' on the floor with 5' of that being dressing room with A/C, that's going to be our sleeping area at the shows. We installed a walk trough door into the horse area to use this as tack space while at the shows. Good hiding place for the much needed porta-potty also! This trailer can be converted to 3, 10' long box stalls, each of the 6 stalls has a full door (solid at the bottom, jail bars at the top) in front of each horse. We added four ties on each side in the center 10' section to tie horses in that section if needed. You could haul 9 horse in this trailer if needed, (my old truck wouldn't like it). Installed saddle rack bracket in the front middle stall to be used as a secondary means of storing the saddles to free up the dressing room when it's nap time. Most of the time we won't be carrying 6 horses. Everyone has had good things to say about Cherokee trailers, so now that we have bought one, I kinda expect all the bad stuff to come out now. SO! What is the good, bad and the ugly about a new Cherokee trailer, let me here it, I want to know. They all seem fine until you buy one then everyone wants to trash it for you! No matter what brand..........Just tell us the facts, not what the man that lives 8 miles beyond your second cousins mother in law said at the feed store in 1987. I believe the trailer will serve us well, we arn't on the road every day with 6, 1200# walking horses. We travel maybe 8000 miles a year on the east coast and Tennessee.         So FLAME ON!!!

Gary & Jennifer Batts, New Cherokee Super Chief owners

It sounds as if you researched and bought the exact trailer you were looking for. I expect you will enjoy it for a long time. The naysayers will only complain because they aren't fortunate enough to own one as nice as yours. Congratulations and happy trails

Paul, no bubbling crude in the back yard. I guess we are the cause of the $100.00 a barrel oil. Seems like every time I make a significant purchase, fuel prices jump sky high. The truck I'll be using is a 2001 Chevrolet 3500, ext. cab 4x4......BIG BLOCK gasser, 8.1/Allison and 4.10 gears. I bought this truck a week before the WTC attack, so be ready this weekend, something bad will happen being as how we will have had this new trailer a week this Sunday. We go to a couple shows in Jacksonville Florida, that's 1000 miles round trip each time, couple times to central Pa and western Va. Out to Mufreesboro Tennessee for 2-3 1400 mile round trips, plus all the 50-100 mile away shows and organized trail rides around here. It really adds up.........In miles and fuel $$$$$$$$$. I think it may have been more like 10,000 miles this year, we were gone alot. Truck stays tied to the trailer most of the time. We get back from a show, wash truck and trailer, fuel up, park it and crank the landing gear down to get the weight off the truck. Restock the living area, sanitize the potty, and start planning who, what, when, and which horses are going to the next event. This showing is all my wife's thing. I can't ride anymore so I end up with dutys like, the truck driver, cook, mechanic, feed boy, alarm clock, keeper of the potty, refresment and entertainment person, gopher...... Did I mention, driver!!

I've bought 2 trailers from Randy Burmaster at Ken Feagin.  He's been exceptionally good to us. I also think highly of Cheryl and Susan.  All good Folk.  Sounds like you ordered just what you wanted in your trailer.  That sucker will last your lifetime and probably serve you well.  My husband doesn't ride much either, but I always know our beer is protected back at camp!!

My wife shows our horses in pleasure driving and in the obstacle driving classes. We have a G&S cart that can be broken down into about a dozen pieces and transported in the assorted trailer compartments. She does the horse driving and I assemble and disassemble the cart each time......at about 16 shows each season!! I can about put it together blind folded!!

How's it going Brian!!? I'll peck away at it this winter, already got the roof lined, added the A/C with the heat strips, not much to do, it's only 5' long X 8' wide, won't take long.

How about some pictures, inside and out?  I've never seen a head-to-head trailer up close and personal and I'm curious about the layout and configuration.

Do you have any pictures of the head to head trailers?  I've never seen one but since we are looking to get a new trailer (4horse) here in the next year I'd like to see one.   What is a ball park weight on a 4horse with a weekend package? (hard to answer I know)
