We just had our Elite raised 2 inches-- I searched this site( under dealers) for dealers in my area.

We didn't want to go 4 inches because I didn't want a ramp

Most good shops can block your axles which will provide the lift you need.  Check around and find a shop that can do the work that you feel comfortable about.

just bought the trailer and pulled it home.  It only clears the bed about six inches and already sets at a slope to the bumper. I pull  with a 07 3500 crewcab duramax.  I want to extend the neck tube for more bed clearance and that will increase the slope at the bumper.

if the axles are bolted on it will be fairly simple but once you raise the trailer you have other things to consider like maybe a ramp and even the appearance because of the fenders setting so high but the most important is the alignment

While trailer shopping, I looked at a 4-star that the guy had raised the trailer by 2 inches (had it done at a shop by blocking up the axles as mentioned). He said he did it to help the tires cool - he had a problem with rear tires blowing before he did that, so he said. He had removed the ramp from his trailer. It did not seem overly high, as measured against MY leg, lol.

Part of the reason for the back tires could be that if the trailer was unlevel, the back axle carries more weight if the trailer is unlevel.

Most trailers are going to be give or take 16" to the floor height. 2" is not a substantial amount. My stock trailer sits 20" floor to ground and I haul horses and cattle both in it.

We had to have our 4Star w/LQ lifted 5" to clear the truck bed and keep from dragging the bottom out when we camped at primative camp sites.  We took it to a trailer sales shop but any good shop should be able to do it.  Ours is fixed so it can be reversed if we decide to sell it or change it.  We do have tall trail horses that jump right in and out but we park as low as possible when we can.  When we first had it done I was riding my  old horse and I put him in  the trailer first so I could turn him around to make it easier on him.

We currently use a trailer that has about 5" lifted. It looks pretty funny (like a jacked up truck only a trailer) and is really bouncy. Also my horse, who is shorter almost always refuses to get in it (he'll load in anything else) because he hates the huge step down. He's short and I think it is really hard on him-sometimes he crawls out on his knees. There is not a ramp with the trailer and it isn't ours, we just borrow cause I don't have one! I would avoid doing it if at all possible.

We lifted our trailer 2" with no problem but after getting it done we needed to get new tires for it, we found the best deals online at http://www.recstuff.com We bought new rims as well.

Just once of dragging off one of your holding tanks underneath will change your mind about not blocking it up if it rides low.Or banging it on the edge of your truck tailgate in a campsite or making a turn.Ours did ride rougher and I had to cue my horses by saying back, back, back, then "DOWN" when they get to the step-off because it did raise it quiet a bit.The advantages of having it blocked up outweighed the disadvantages, for us.

we had a trailer place raise the trailer 5 inches to level it out. the trailer had three brands of tires on the ground when we bought it so I suspect they were blowing tires do to the uneven load on the rear axle. the lift made the rear bumper 21 inches.

I know there are a lot of variables, but trailer companies are aware of the "standard" towing vehicles so why don't they just make the trailers high enough off the ground so people do not have to go to the trouble of blocking them?  Does a lot have to do with the length of the trailer or is it just certain make trailers that you need to be aware of? We pull with a 1999 Ford F-350 4 W/D Dually Diesel which seems to be a popular towing unit.  Dodge trucks seem to sit a little higher and I think Chevy is close to the Ford.  Just wondering since I don't know anyone who had to have this done!

I am sure most of the manufacturers have. You don't hear of it on newer trailers. But the truck manufacturers kept raising the trucks as they became more popular as the family car, plus they started making the beds deeper. They didn't care that there were hundreds of thousands of trailers out there affected by the fact that the trucks changed. Give me back the lower center of gravity anytime. I personally didn't have places that I couldn't go because the truck was too low, or things I couldn't haul in the bed because it was too shallow.
