Looking to purchase 2000 to 2003 Exiss. I know they are a less expensive trailer made by Sooner but tell me what to look for. Are they durable? We haul to Quarter Horse shows - lot of road miles. Any advice would be appreciated.

The "Event" models built during that time period are quite good. Some had drop down window problems that were mostly addressed by the manufacturer. They are a reliable and tough trailer, and very well built. With tens of thousands of satisfied owners, usually the only postings we see are made by a small group of people, especially vocal in their disapproval of the brand.
Their concerns are that every one leaks, the road sides are scattered with various window and door parts, they have the cursed exploding roof syndrome, and junk is a commonly used adjective. This trailer brand attracts flaming better than most. It's probably because there are so many more sold and used, when compared to other brands.
My experiences are just the opposite. Our trailer is pristine in function and looks, already into its second decade of life. I couldn't be more pleased with our ownership. We spent some time looking for this particular make and model, and made a wise purchase. It's longevity is welcomed and rewarding.
We also own a 4 Star and I will make the following statement, knowing full well that I will suffer the wrath of the aluminum gods for this blasphemy. The Exiss has many features that are far superior to the 4 Star.
If you find an Event Exiss that has been properly maintained, you will not be disappointed with its ownership. We have had many years and many miles of trouble free enjoyment with our Exiss. We expect the future will afford much more of the same pride of ownership.

I have a 05 Event Exiss that we bought new. We use it hard 7 months out of the year. I live in the frozen tundra so we shut down once winter hits. I've not had any trouble with leaking roof, drop downs nothing. I have a 14 foot shortwall with a 10 foot slideout done by Sierra. Its really beautiful and all held up well. We take very good care of it storing it inside during the off season and during the week.

I have a 2001 Exiss 200 B&B, and maybe you saw my post about the LQ door and dropdowns.
I had to have the dropdowns replaced once before due to a poorly manufactured hinge installation. The hinge cracked and the window fell off. This has been several years ago and the company replaced both windows on their dime.
Now, both windows and the LQ door developed rot of the wood inside the door. Fortunately, this is a DIY project, and I can replace the wood.
Other than that, I did have a leak in the roof, but it turned out that it was the fault of the installer of the new AC. He didn't tighten down the bolts enough and it leaked around the gasket. Besides these things, I have had this trailer since it was new. It looks great, functions well, pulls like a dream and I do not regret purchasing it for a minute. I would not hesitate to do as suggested and find an earlier model Event.

Ditto- I have a 2000 Exiss event and its still going strong. issues? Of course its 13 years old but each one has been small and fixable. I bought it used in 05. I'd buy another exiss again.

I had a 2000 stock combo which I bought new and just sold 2 weeks ago. It was an excellent trailer. In fact, it still had the original tires and the buyer hauled it to Canada with no problems. I don't know if they maintained their quality on newer models, but if so, I'd sure buy another.

I think trailers are just like cars and trucks, each is uniquely different, some have extras we like , some don't, I think all will last the estimated life span they are made for but 'MAINTENANCE ' is the biggest issue of all units. if you just drive or pull them without regular maintenance, expect short term life.. simple as that.

I think that is about the best post on what trailer is good or bad that I have read. Some like Dodges, some Ford etc, but if you don't do the maint. you are going to have a short life span. Some may take more abuse than others but each, if taken care of, will do a good job.

Thanks for all the advice. I believe that these trailers would have done anything I needed. I looked at several and they all had different "added" upgrades. Some of them were pretty good and some you would want to slap the owner and ask WHY?We decided on a Featherlite this afternoon and brought it home. It had a/c and was a pretty clean trailer for an 04. We must have drove over 2000 miles looking at trailers and ended up finding one 20 miles from home...... Go figure

We have a 2005 Exiss Event and have had very good service from it. The only reason for selling it now is that it doesn't have a slide. It's also an 8' short wall and our new trailer on order has a ten foot shortfall and a six foot slide.

We have an 06' Exiss Event 412. Had some issues at first but no other problems since. The only thing I have had as a reoccuring issue is the plastic bubble over the shower. Can't remember the name of it. My trailer sits out in the sun and it get's hot down here. It will crack over time and cause a leak over the shower. That's not Exiss's fault. It's just a maintenance thing. It lasts about 4-5 years before I have to replace it.

You must mean your skylight. I imagine they wouldn't last forever if the trailer sat out. I ordered one in my trailer but the factory forgot it. I have an electric vent/skylight in the bathroom though so it wasn't the end of the world. I wonder if there's something you could put over the skylight to protect it a little?One time after a heck of a hot spell I couldn't get my tv antenna to raise up. I climbed on the roof and the rubber roof had gotten hot enough it melted a little to the antenna to keep it from raising. All it took was breaking it loose and we were good to go.

It's all good. It is the cost of not having a shelter for it to sit under. I inspect the roof every year. The white sealer Exiss puts on the seams is some tough stuff.
