Does anyone use the corner hay bag feeders inside their slant load trailers? I bought my Exiss used and it didn't come with any but have been contemplating ordering some. Seems like it would give my mare some more room instead of having a hay bag hanging right beside her head. Pros, cons, any thoughts?

Compared to hay nets I think the "pro" is less hay on the floor.
The "cons" are less dust dropped through to the floor, more retained moisture, more opportunity for mold if you just happen to leave hay in there between week-ends.

My sister in law just bought some corner bags for her trailer and the bottoms were a fine mesh to let the dust fall through. We use corner feed bags in our trailer and really like them except that ours don't have mesh bottoms. You definitely do have to watch for mold if the hay sits for awhile. But we only have that problem if it's really damp and the hay is in the feeder for a pretty long while.

I've seen the ones with mesh bottoms and that was what I was thinking of getting. We always dump the leftover hay out of the bags after each trip so mold or any other problems with leftover hay wouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the info.!

My horse also ends up with a front foot in the bag. Have used them with other horses and liked them very much; this particular horse paws and always seems to catch a foot in them somehow.

Have 3 outa our Sundowner are barely used if want to buy them $25. an shipping for all 3.We dont use them any more always hauling young ones an not in trailer to our park is half hour trip.

Some horses are fine with them... and some are not. We've had two horses put their leg through them, so we just went back to hanging bags. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Don't use them any more.

I use them with my horse, but twice other horses that I hauled for friends put their foot through it and I was stuck resewing it, so I don't provide it for other horses. I think horses that paw in the trailer (hate that habit) are the ones most likely to get their foot through it.
I empty mine out after every trip and store it in the DR - South Fla has horrible humidity and the hay will get yucky very quickly if left in it.
