The length and placement of the slant is more dependant on horse fit. The width is measured by the size of the trailer box. Most 7 foot wide trailers with mangers that I have seen are not very accomodating for a large horse.

We have larger horses,too,our foxtrotters are not little dainty horses.They are wide and long.We've found that the wider trailer with mangers is what we need.Our LQ is 8' wide with mangers.Even at that,sometimes our biggest horse (lenthwise) will rub against the back wall of the trailer when he is in it.

This is a classic trailer,
I dont' know if that makes a difference on the slants.

Most 7' wide trailers will have a more narrow trough manger than an 8' wide trailer. We have mangers in our 7' wide Bison Stratus; and it accomodates a 15 -1 Quarter horse gelding, and my wifes Spotted Saddle Horse/TWH very nicely. Neither horse rubs the rear wall.

my 2 main horses I haul are 15-16 hands they're big horses. I hauled with someone else that had mangers and my horse did not fit in it. but I don't know how wide her trailer is either.

It depends on the angle of the dividers and the depth of the managers. I went to look at a rig last weekend (7 ft wide with mangers)...And let's just say I'm not even sure my 14.2 hand morgan would have been comfy in there...

A 7' wide trailer with mangers is a pretty narrow affair. Each brand of trailer will differ in stall dimensions, so it's a good idea to check it with a tape measure before contemplating any purchase. Right off the bat, the interior dimensions of a 7' wide trailer are 6'9". Adding any kind of manger, will quickly, further shorten the stall length.
A 7' wide SL trailer can accommodate larger stall sizes for "warm blood" horses. As was previously posted, it will depend on the stall angle. A manufacturer can easily build a stall with a diagonal length of over ten feet, and widths of up to 45".

I wouldn't think mangers would take any of the room up for the horses body. They have to have a certain amount of room for there neck and head to ride comfortably so I can't imagine mangers being deep enough on any width trailer that it would interfere.

My advise. Only have mangers if you have an 8ft wide trailer. Been there done that with the 7 foot and my larger horses did not fit well. They pooed and rubbed their tails on the back wall. They always came out of the trailer with poo on their bums and rubbed tails. Just my experience

They are,tho.I can't imagine mangers in my 7'wide 4Star trailer (no LQ.) As Gard says,too,it's actually 6'9".My horses would not have enough room in there.They can walk up closer to the window in the trailer without mangers.And they have room to maneuver back and forward in our 8' with mangers and the 7' without.

I had a Classic Bunkhouse trailer with mangers. It's worked just find for hauling my horses. My two geldings are 16h
I had to always back the horses out, They could not turn around inside the trailer comfortable. The rear tack was more of a problem than the mangers for turning around inside the trailer. The angle of the slants was such that the horses had plenty of room to stand during the ride. And Classic didn't put an very large manager in. It was only like 14" deep.
Here is a picture of the Calssic I had. I sold it in 2007.
