does anyone have any info. on Lakota trailers? pros? cons?  I'd ordered a new Silverstar months ago but now its not even close to ready and the dealer has offered a new Lakota trailer instead.  I'm doing this all  long distance and have never even seen one in person so don't know if this is a good deal or not.  thanks for your input!

Nothing but what I've seen on their website and what R&R trailers in Ga. and Fl. have for sale on their site. I know that R&R sells Silver Star and Lakota, looks like R&R is leaning more to the Lakota and away from Silver Star. They (Lakota) look kinda "pricey", but then that's just my thinking. I do like the trailer they build that has the raised roof over the gooseneck area, you can sit up in the bunk and not bend the roof outward with your head! LOL! Who is the dealer that you are working with?

I poked around one at congress- in my opinion they were very well built and solid.  Just make sure the stall sizes are similar to the Silver Star.  The Lakota seemed very similar to the 4 Star in design, nice dressing room. I think this is a newer brand- would have been interested if I had found one at the right price!

Yay!!! I've been waiting for input on the Lakota trailers for a while now after submitting 2 posts. They may look expensive but come with a good price! They do look a lot like a 4 Star but without that big price tag. I love 4 Star but can't afford compared to what I can get with Lakota. Lakota's are a solid trailer with a lot of standard features that are usually options on other trailers. We've been looking at them for a while. The trailer lot in Florida has ordered bumper pulls & should be at the lot around the end of January(??). I'd love to have more input also from people who own a Lakota trailer. Some Silver Star trailers come with 42" wide stalls--you can get that on a Lakota also but costs more. Thanks!!

dealer is R&R Trailer Sales in GA.  he seems very nice on the phone but just isn't giving me the answers I want.  esp. since he told me the new trailer would be ready and delivered last week so I sold my old one, only to find out  from the factory the new one was barely started.  Apparently Silverstar has changed owners and they are having some organizational (and communication)  problems.  I wouldn't be upset at all if I had known and not sold the old one yet but I trailer my horses 2-3 times/week and NEED a trailer now.  but I"m not sure w/out seeing a Lakota in person if I should jump into getting one.  it's good to hear other opinions- thanks.

acy: Have you called and talked to anyone at Silver Star? Did you cancel your trailer order? Did the dealer cancel your trailer order? They are still in business with a new owner from Ga. and are building trailers as we speak. Are you/we getting the whole story? Sounds like you want one brand trailer and the dealer wants to sell you another brand of trailer..........And he sells both!

yes.. I've called SilverStar several times, the last being this past thurs.  (day the dealer said it would be delivered here) when I was told the trailer was barely started and they were waiting for metal.  according to the dealer he'd sell me the Lakota at "his" price and would'nt be making any $ on it.   the dealer also said he'd get me a loaner trailer last week after the factory told me mine wasn't ready.  then his truck broke down and they are awaiting parts to fix it.  I guess what really ticks me off the most is his lack of communication.  I have to call several times to get him to return calls.. don't like to keep bugging him but this whole situation is very frustrating.   as of today my order hasn't been canceled altho I'm tempted to just call and get my deposit back and say screw it and find something thats available now.

Anita

There are 9320 trailers for sale on this site alone, I believe I would look elsewhere. What size of a trailer did you order? 2033, 2034, Supreme, Head to Head? You want a used 2001 Star Lite Supreme 2033MA with a 21' awning, AC/with heat strips, rear ramp, walk through from dress through mid-tack and into the first stall that has a stud divider, new 10pr tires, repacked bearings w/new seals and a fresh acid wash? Cause I want a 6H2h of some sort, soon!

I hate to make negative posts, but I agree with the others. Find a new dealer. R&R Trailers had a used trailer I really wanted about a year ago. Called him up on a Friday and told him I'd come buy it the next day. He called me Saturday morning and told me not to come! I asked why and he said there was some sleet on the ground. I told him I didn't care, that I had already sold my trailer and had to have a new one. He insisted that I not come and told me that he would call me on Monday and discuss delivery. He never called and was "unavailable" when I called back. Something is fishy there.

interesting...    too bad he never called you back.  he sure lost a sale there!

I've always had good luck w/ Silverstar for the 6 yrs I owned my last trailer.  had to call the factory about minor things and they've been helpful.  I have no idea what's going on w/ the new ownership or the situation at R & R Trailer Sales....  and don't really care.  I'm just tired of excuses.

Hi Retento, Do you have a Silver Star trailer for sale or are you just wishing? If you are ready to sell I am looking for a Silver Star 3H GN. Let me know.

We would sell it if we could find a 6H2H with a BIG dressing room, like 8' or more. I could order a new one but I don't think I would live long enough to pay for it. I search the internet everyday but haven't found "the one " I'm looking for. A 2003 Dream Coach was sold close to me, 6H2H, 6' dressing room, 102" wide, AC/heat, battery for lights, 7'6" tall, 41' total length. Looked at it and said I would wait for another to come along.............Should have bought "that" Dream Coach.
