I am shopping for preferrably a used 2 h gooseneck. I am wanting something that I can stay overnight in at barrel races. The problem is I don't want to spend over $8k. I currently pull a 2h straight load bumper pull. My question is some of these trailers that I have found in my price range are only 6ft wide. I am concerned about my horses being comfortable. He is a standard quater horse (15.0 or 1 hands). Some of these trailers sales people tell me they fit comfortably because of the way the slant is. I just don't want to spend my money and it not be comfortable for my guys. Any suggestions or experience would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I would not want a 6 ft. wide trailer. Not as stable going down the road and it'd have to be quite long to accomodate a full size horse. You need to check the length and width od the stalls vs. your horse's heighth and length. Make sure that he has enogh room to move a liitle in the stall.

HI we sell the S&H Contender Sport that's 6'8" wide. A brand new 2H GN would run less than $8,000 including front walkin tack, wall and floor mats and plexi in the side vent windows. I see you're in Texas you could even save more by picking it up in Ok.

Hey, just went through this. My horses are quite tall and one is long. I don't see how even a 15 hand horse could fit in a 6 foot wide (slant)! I ended up with a 7' 3" wide trailer with one of the longest slant stalls I could find (2 horse BP). I defin. notice increased stability pulling this one over my 6' wide straight load- although it could be the increased weight. I would go at least 6'8" wide for your guys. Most manuf. of slants are well over 6' wide, shouldn't be too hard to find- make sure you measure the nose to tail length. One thing I did was literally map out the stall with pvc pipes (being conservative on the measurements to the small side) and walked my guys into the mock "stalls". I was surprised what a difference there was with an extra 6 inches to the length. Good luck!

My 2h slant is 6'6 wide and fits my 15 hander quite comfortably. My 15'3, very long girl is another story entirely. When I haul her, I pull the divider back and let her have the whole trailer. Surprisingly, tall is not an issue (6'6 tall also) but long is as important as anything for us. The angle is a factor but length is length.

might want to tell that to all the 2h straight loads.
to the OP, my 2h slant is 6'8" wide and fits both my QH (just over 15h and 1100lbs) fine. i looked at a 6' wide slant and it would have been a tight fit.

I thought that seemed a little odd too, after all the box is narrower not the axles. I mean they may be 96" instead of 102", but ya know what I mean. It's not like they shrink the axle length down to 6'. Least I've never seen such a thing. Talk to y'all later...

From back when I visited nearly all the trailer companies in Oklahoma, 2003...they allowed purchaser pick-ups form the factory. I'd rather pick one up from the factory, that way they can fix the problems right then and there!
