Anybody have any tricks to fix this?  I have tightened the doors, replaced the weather stripping.  and 6 months later there leaking again.  I have noticed hart, 4star, cc, exiss, featherwaste all use a 2 seal system.  I am about to either rework my doors or sell the trailer and get a hart or C&C I love the TW except for this.

I am thinking about building a square tube frame inside of the doors and build an extra flange inside the trailer.  I will most likely use VHB tape to get the square tube on the door so i do not have any hardware going through the doors or have to deal with repainting after welding.  On the inside frames I was thinking about using countersunk rivets so it is all flush under the weather stripping for the primary seal.

I need to do something since my dream trailer is still a few more years out.

thats what we have been talking about doing.  we have had TW trailers for 10 years now and this has really only been my major complaint.  that and the lack of underbody coatings.  Our current TW has close to 100k miles on it and its 4 years old.  The new Hart trailers are looking nicer and nicer....Hart is 6 months out on orders right now.

We were trying to purchase our 3rd Hart Trailer earlier this year. Ended up buying a Cimmarron due to price. The only difference between the two that I could find is that the Cimm. uses a different greasable hinge on the doors, and the saddle rack is a little different. The Cimm. models that we looked at were between 3-5k less than the exact same Harts. The owner (or manager-?) of Cimm. was a main wheel at Hart for years--that is why they are almost identical.

we have looked at the cimarron's and we are gonna go with the hart since they are in the same town with us so if there is any warranty issues, also we have a close friend at the dealership to help us out...But yes they look very very similar

I agree with coldbrew, sell it and get a real trailer, if you own a trailswest it will never be right.  One problem will always lead to another.

Never owned one, I was looking at buying one than I saw all the problems my roomate had with his and after that I will never own one. And after pulling his tw one time going to rodeo I realized that buying one would of been the worse mistake of my life.

Jake,Call Shane or Matt at Trails West 208 852-2200 and they will help you fix your problem. Trails West is the best company to do business with. Take my word for it. You couldn't have a better steel trailer than a Trails West.

I'm going to agree on Trails West standing behind their products. I bought mine in '03 from a dealer. Two years later, my then young lab chewed the door bumpers off. I asked the dealer if I could purchase some new ones and he said he'd have to order them directly from the factory. Trails West sent them to me at no cost ... they just wanted to make sure I was still enjoying my two year old trailer. Stuff happens to any brand of anything. Good companies stand behind their products and I believe Trails West is one of those kinds of companies.

thanks ill call tw about it what gets me is all theese people bad mouth the trails west trailers but will not say what problems they have had i have had tw since 1998 after i got in a wreck with a featherlight. you wanna talk about a poorly constructed trailer thats it. i will not put anything in a featherlight thats not destined for the dog food factory. i just want the doors fixed. my tw has over 100k miles on it with it sees about 30k a year. and its about 20 miles of rough road to the trainers twice a week
