What size (height & depth dimensions)of upper and lower cabinets are commonly used? I have 80" height clearance from floor to ceiling and 4' short wall. The long wall where the cabinets are going to be mounted is 8' long. I know that the lower or base cabinets should be around 35" high .

Cabinet measurements removed to avoid confusion

Replaced with pictures of actual cabinets. ;-)

I will fabricate the base cabinets 34.5" high but the fridge I intend to use is 21-3/8" deep , so I'm assuming I need to have minimum 21-1/2" deep base cabinets to prevent the fridge from protruding past the counter top. I have been looking at various weekend package pictures on the net and the uppers or wall cabinets seem to be much shorter than 30".

Where are you Gard ?

A while ago I finished up a set of cabinets for an Exiss 7' high trailer. After the floors were installed, I had interior heights of ~81" in the main area and ~36" in the bunk. We too, fabricated a "weekender" interior for a 4' short wall.

I made the main galley lower cabinets 24" deep and 35 1/2" high. This fully contained the Doemetic refrigerator that was installed and are the same measurements that contain my Norcold fridge. They are also deep enough to enclose the Suburban 6 gal propane hot water heater. The counter top itself, plywood and granite, added an additional ~7/8" in height.

The top cabinets over the galley are 15" deep, and have a spacing over the sink and counter top of 26". These cabinets are 19 1/2" high.

The wardrobe and TV cabinets for the foot of the bunk are 11" deep and go from the floor to the ceiling, minus 1" so they can be slid into place. They ended up aprox 35" in height. A small crown moulding was fabricated to close the top spacing, and was repeated over the kitchen cabinets and bulkhead wall for looks.

Hope this helps    Gard

Thanks Gard, that's the kind of detailed inormation I was looking for.

I don't have my applinces yet but I am also looking at the same units you mentioned . According to the specs , the Norcold N300 fridge is 21-3/8" deep and the Atwood heater is 20-1/2" . I'm trying to save as much open space as possible and I know the heater can go in the boot box if I have it configured for side discharge . I guess my question is, could you have made the gully base cabinets shallower perhaps 22" instead of 24" and not have any issues with fitting the fridge ? I know that will only save 2" but I'm working with tight quarters to bigin with and every little bit helps .

I copied the depth and height measurements of the base cabinet from my trailer. It has cabinetry built by Sierra, who has much more experience and knowledge than I ever will, about what fits into a given space. The fridge fit easily and we did have enough of a small space behind it, to run the Pex water lines to the bathroom.

The slightly higher cabinet height, allows a copper gas line to be run over the top of the fridge, to a counter top burner if it is optioned.

Using Sierra's measurements, I was relieved of having to engineer many aspects of the installation. We installed the water heater in the same space as mine, under the sink and beside the fridge. We used a hinged factory outside access panel, and bolted the lot to the outside skin. Our boot boxes contain the water pumps and tanks.

I went with 22" on the base cabs.

The over cabs are different...have a deeper cab for the microwave.

Built them a stick at a time. Purchased the cab doors though, just too much to make without the correct tools.
