I would have to agree with Dwight ,there are so many good places to ride in Tennessee. Our personal favorite is the Smokey Mountains. The best horse camp there is Catalloochee, on the North Carolina side.

There are so many places to ride in TN - but I agree that the Smokey Mtns are the prettiest. The trails around Cades Cove, Schoolhouse Gap are beautiful. Big South Fork is just huge with tons of trails. I am sure you will have not trouble finidng places to ride.

Living in Eastern New Mexico, I had never had any experience with any kind of tick except the ones on the dogs. After a trail ride outside Athens, Tennessee I found a tick imbedded in the back of my neck and another between my shoulder blades. I was so freaked out! I didn't know how to remove the things properly, so I just scraped them off with a fingernail. Then I spent the next hour scrubbing with every kind of disinfectant I coud lay my hands on. Gross! Thankfully, I am not nearly as squeamish as I was then. Still abhorr ticks, but at least the world keeps turning while I am dealing with the little nasties.

In the Northeast we definately have those lil buggers. After a ride during certian seasons there can be quite a few on the horses. They love the tip of the tail deep under the hair.

Marla, Next time you get a tick on you try smothering it by putting tooth paste on it, when it smothers it backs itself out of your skin. When I first read this tip I couldn't believe it would work but I tried it and sure enough!

Jim, Rose is right, those places are good. Also the Buffalo River area just North of Waynesboro in Middle TN is a good camp an ride spot. I live in memphis but lease a farm down in Mississippi for the horses. Come on down!
