Does anyone ever come to Illinois or are there any people from Illinois that chat on here? Anyone go to the 9 day or ride in the Shawnee?

We're not from IL but love to ride there.  As a matter of fact, we have already made reservations at One Horse Gap for Memorial weekend.

Can't wait!!

RIDE ON!

Hi!

I'm from Illinois, upper part, near the Quad Cities, about 30 miles from Davenport IA.

We LOVE shawnee, usually go every year but with these gas prices (and County Fair), were sticking closer to home.  Harrisburg is about 6-7 hours for us.

Welcome to the boards, where  is Goreville at?

We use to have a permanent site at Hayes Canyon, and now go to Circle B Campground and ride. We love it there, The trails are wonderful.

Where Goreville is..... it is located at Exit 40 on I57.  I am about 10-15 minutes south of Marion, Illinois.  If you are from the south I am located about 45 minutes NE of Paducah, Kentucky.  I have friends that have a perm campsite at Hayes Canyon and have been there a lot.  It is very beautiful there.

We rode at One Horse Gap/Ranch 34 in early 90s-was nice/just getting hot water in shower house. Was great riding etc.Few years ago went to Bear Branch-they offer alot at place tack store/barn stalls/place eat(weekends)air condition in shower house washer and dryers just alot more than orther camp sites. We liked it best also shady campsites.Checked out orthers(camp/riding places) some orthers seemed kinda run down or perm sites seemed less than desirable when we rode by.

We lived in IL many years than moved (ran away) to live in MO.

Paints - One Horse Gap camp is no longer affiliated with 34 Ranch.  They are two entirely separate camps.  OHG is owned and run by the Buchanan family.  We were there two years ago and had some of the best riding EVER.

RIDE ON!

We usually camp at Hayes, it's under new owners (3 yrs ago), it's really nice!!

My friend goes to New Hope Hill, I think they call that one horse gap now??

Anyway, I sure envy you being so close to Shawnee!!!  Marion is a nice town, lots of shopping (McKinneys!).

I plan on retiring there, only about 10 more years!!!!  I LOVE the southern part of our state, NICE people, and GREAT riding!

I'm between Vandalia and Effingham. We come down to Shawnee a lot. Go to Double M, High Knob (usually through the week). Been to other camps also. We don't go to the 9 day. Too many people for me. Never know we might meet up some day. Happy Trails
